I found this postcard of a village in North Italy at a thrift store ... it had been bent and discarded.
But the memories it stirred are priceless.
In what seems like another lifetime, and a trip we took while stationed in Germany.
On the map it looked like a shortcut.
In reality, it was a tiny winding road high in the mountains. In some places it was one lane and you looked out your window straight down. And down. And down some more. There were no guardrails.
It turned out to be one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, and I'd go again if I could.
I didn't notice until I got home ... one of the green patches in the mountains on the far side of the valley is shaped like a heart.
