"The Best Friend, built for the Charleston & Hamburg Railroad in South Carolina in 1830, was the first locomotive to draw a train in America. The stamp design was based on artwork by Richard Leech."

  3. I do love industrial history. How cool is that, 1830 would be just one year after Stephenson ran the Rocket at the Rainhill trials.

  4. I like mail related postcards. I would like to see more postcards of mailboxes and mail related things on Postcard Friendship Friday, but I am not very interested in pictures that aren't on postcards.

  5. This is unusual! I don't think I have ever seen a design for a postcard that is also used for a stamp! A significant piece of history on the postcard! Amazing!
