USS Constitution, nicknamed "Old Ironsides" when cannon balls bounced off her oak planking. She was undefeated in 40 historic battles. Built in 1797, she is still a US Navy ship and a living museum of Naval history.
Happy Memorial Day.

There is something about these beautiful old sailing ships that is very special. It's a really lovely card.
ReplyDeleteSailing ships are so elegant, we occasionally have a tall ships event here for sailing ships, always stunning to see them sail.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful postcard. When we were in Boston we saw this amazing old ship. She's still as incredible as she was--maybe even more, as she's survived all these years!
ReplyDeleteHappy PFF!
I love old sailing ships. This is a good one for Memorial Day. Happy PFF!
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting postcard. Mine is up - My PFF Entry.
ReplyDeleteIsn't she a beautiful ship! She still escorts special visiting ships into port.
ReplyDeleteThat would be special to see that ship. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteI think it is still sailed occasionally. I'd really be interested in if it is still manned by Naval personnel.
ReplyDeleteIsn't she a beauty?!
ReplyDeleteI too have visited this wonderful ship and am amazed she is still around. What a history she has and what stories she could tell if those planks could talk! Thanks for sharing... Happy PFF!
